Random Musings - Miles to Go
5,500 Km
Both
CD100-SS and the prodigal son lead a comfortable life in small towns without
traffic and competition in studies. Both have a feeling that there is nothing
to prove their superiority. CD100-SS could not see other vehicles moving with
such grace and sound. So, with the
prodigal son having fun in both school and tuition. With little effort, he is
scoring well and felt that he is intelligent.
Then comes
the results of 10th Class. To the utter dismay of the prodigal son,
the score was modest 80% as compared to his expectation of scoring >95%
Learning: Realization often comes with the
final score sheet. It turns out to be a costly thing – both in terms of time
and money.

The CD100-SS
is under colossal pressure seeing many new models on the city road that are
moving fast with little effort. The respectable father wants his prodigal son
to become a doctor and join him in a college (industry) – which churns state
ranks yearly.
The son had
no choice to become a book worm for two years. He could not comprehend that his
modest 10th score could only get him the last section. The nervous
son realized he was a frog in a small pond and unsure how to swim in the big
river.
Learning: Move out from your comfortable place
to know who and what you are. All the achievements look small if you move to the
big world
9000 Km
The results
are repeating. CD100-SS could not move fast as compared to the new models.
Serviceman said – can’t help, sir “the vehicle run’s based on its bike chassis.”
The respectable father understood the same with his son. No matter what the
expectation is – his prodigal son could only study to his capacity.
The prodigal
son said I would join BSc instead of going for medical entrance for another
year. He has fun and got new friends and a lot of time to move around and still
score good marks in semester exams.
Learning: Move on - Life is still fun even
after not achieving your/parent’s goals.

Fast
forward, the respectable father has to use a lot of energy to kick start the
old CD100-SS. It has become old, the place where it was parked is marked with
black oil (which keeps dripping from the engine). The father decided to upgrade
the vehicle. He got a white gearless scooter.
The prodigal
son has grown big. With age, he has become responsible. He joined a company
and learned
he is still in the age of Orkut – none of the lessons he learned in his books
are helpful.
Learning: Upgradation is vital for not getting
obsolete.
